35 wineries showcased the latest new season release white wines to Perth wine trade and media at Fraser’s last week, proving the concept of a focused regional event.

Planning is now underway for the Margaret River Reds Day in Perth in July, 2007 and there is strong support to look at how the event can be taken to Sydney and Melbourne.

MRWIA President Ron Fraser said having so many wineries represented reinforced the Margaret River brand, and sent a strong message of the value of a combined force.

“It was the first time Margaret River has taken such a strong contingent to Perth and it looked sensational.  Wine trade and media in Sydney and Melbourne would line up to attend an event like it,” Mr Fraser said.

“Working together allows all sized wineries the opportunity to showcase their wines, and it maximises the promotion of the region, which not only supports the wine industry but tourism and all local business.”

The concept can be expanded to include food and tourism, which will attract an even wider audience thus reinforcing the strength of the Margaret River brand.

The new season release days are part of the Association’s strategic initiative to showcase the latest vintages from one of Australia’s premier fine wine regions.  Designed as an annual event, the Margaret River Whites Day featured a range of producers, from the large estates to niche wineries and new labels.
