Trophies and Awards
a. Wines are only eligible if from the Margaret River Geographical Indications (GI). All entries must therefore comply with the Label Integrity Programme (LIP)
regulations and be made from grapes sourced within Margaret River (85% minimum).
The regional boundary is defined as any grapes grown west of the
Gladstone Line (115º 18” East).
b. Exhibits must comply with all Commonwealth and State Acts, governing the
production and labelling of Australian wine. In particular Australian Wine and
Brandy Corporation Act, State Food Act and ANZ Food Standards Code (Standard
4.1.1).
c. A wine can only be entered once in the show. However, Exhibitors may enter
more than one wine in the same class.
d. The exhibitor must be the producer/proprietor of the commercial mark under which the product is sold.
e. Wineries must hold the minimum quantities of stock in bottle. Wine that is not bottled as at November 24, 2006 is ineligible.

f. Exhibits must be from commercially bottled stock, bottled prior to November
24, 2006. The wine exhibited for judging therefore must be the same wine
made available for sale through general distribution channels including retail
outlets and/or cellar door.
g. Tank or barrel samples, if detected, will be disqualified (see Audit Procedures)
h. Wines exhibited in the varietal classes may contain ‘other varieties’ in
smaller percentages (using the 85% rule).
i. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Sauvignon blends must be entered into
the appropriate class, as named on their commercial label. For instance, if a
wine is labelled Cabernet Merlot, it must be entered into a Cabernet predominate
blend class. (Refer AWBC Regulation 20.)
j. Wines may, at the discretion of the Judges, be transferred to more appropriate
classes.
k. Class 29 and 30 is a new category for 2006. This class is open to non-commercial
labels produced by growers, students, winemaking amateurs etc.
These wines will receive commendations only. Wines must use Margaret River
GI fruit. The wines entered in Class 29 and 30 will not be eligible for Trophy or
Awards.
l. Exhibitors must be producers of wine for public sale and licensed as per the
laws of the Department of Racing, Gaming and Liquor.
m. The Wine Show Committee reserves the right to accept, reject or disqualify
any entry. Any Exhibitor breaking any regulation may be disqualified from this
and future shows.
n. All exhibits are the property of the Margaret River Wine Industry Association.

Between 12.00pm to 4.00pm
No late entries will be accepted.
Entry Forms
Exhibits must be clearly stated on the entry form supplied by the Wine Show
with full details of:
a. Class number
b. If more than one entry per class, the Exhibitors’ distinguishing number
c. Varietal breakdown with percentages listed in descending order
d. Vintage
e. Full Commercial name of product
f. Cases held in stock at time of entry
Please note the Full Commercial Title will be used for the Exhibitor Results
Programme.
Entry Fees
Entries shall not be accepted unless accompanied by fees.
• $35 per entry for MRWIA members
• $65 per entry for non-MRWIA members
• $20 per entry for winemaking students (Classes 29 and 30 only)
Entry fees are not refundable.
Labels & Preparation
a. Exhibits are to be submitted for judging, displaying wine show labels
supplied by the MRWIA. These labels should be filled in and placed on the
bottles, as per the directions by the MRWIA.
b. Commercial labels are permitted on entries and will not bear any
influence on judging given the format of pouring. (see Judging Process)
c. Entry Labels MUST include:
i. Name of Exhibitor
ii. The type of wine
iii. The class number entered
iv. When more than one entry in any one class, the distinguishing
number (1,2, etc) of each entry.
v. Year of vintage
d. Number of bottles (750 ml) per entry:

Turn left (down the hill) to Carpark 2.
Dates: Wednesday November 22 to Friday 24 November
Time: Between 12.00pm to 4.00pm
Please ensure that only a member of the MRWIA or Technical Advisory Group
signs for delivery of your wine stock.
The Margaret River Wine Industry Association will NOT be held liable for wine
delivered to other areas of the education campus, or outside of delivery times.
Provision of Award Winning Wine
Exhibitors with gold and silver medal wines will be required to provide two
additional bottles of wine for the Exhibitor Tasting.
Exhibitors who are awarded MRWIA Trophies and Awards for classes 1 – 26 will
be requested to provide the Association with two cases of their award winning
wines. These will be used for future wine dinners, promotional displays and
similar events in keeping with the Association’s goals, and will be fully auditable.
Winners from Classes 27 – 28 will be required to provide up to 4 bottles.
Use of Awards Names and/or Logo
Any use of awards name and logo for promotional and advertising
purposes must include the name ‘2006 Commonwealth Bank Margaret River
Wine Show’.
Medals can only be displayed as per the AVSO ‘Code of Practise for Display of
Awards’.
